Pimms, Pizzas and Pop Vinyls!

I absolutely love summers in London especially when it's a good one like this year's! Most evenings the Sun retires with the most gorgeously rendered sky after a hard 17 hour shift. I went out last night with my boys channelling my California Girl and simply could not believe the heat behind that sun still at 7pm!

My recent post was about Mad Max & feminism; all the funnier when Chris Pratt aka Starlord talks about how he feels objectified too filming Jurassic World - haha I love it!

--------

5 July 2015>> So, I finally caught Jurassic World this week, now I don't have that nostalgic relationship to the original Jurassic Park like most people my generation would as my mother had always banned us from the movie, deeming it too scary for us to watch. In fact I only watched the whole movie properly a year or two ago!

First things first, Chris Pratt was surprisingly HOT as the compassionate Owen. I watch New Girl so to see 'Nick Miller' (Jake M. Johnson) brought a sense of realism, which I think was what his role was for; just a guy at his desk. The older nephew of the heroin is suspiciously good looking; much like a Beckham child (Brooklyn to be specific).

The plot has a very similar skeleton to the original, but I enjoyed the sequel a whole lot more and found myself thoroughly gripped and entertained until the end. The conflict of interests and morals were poetically debated, much like the contrasting roles Owen & Claire were put in the Park to do, later diffusing into mutual admiration. Aww.

All in all, I'd give it a solid 9/10!

The Making Of...

I was invited to Warner Brother's Studio Tours a while back; to The Making of Harry Potter to be precise. Now before you turn away - one definitely does not need to be a die-hard fan to appreciate this place. It takes a lot get me excited in most things, yet I was genuinely blown away. I felt like I was walking through a museum of cinematography art more than anything else and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there so much. The time frame suggested as the duration of the tour was 3 hours; which sounds like a long time but to my surprise - you would genuinely want to spend 3 hours soaking up all the details the place has to offer.

I have a brand new appreciation for cinematography and the film making industry.

There is so much we take for granted when we watch a movie. Every single detail and every single object in every shot was not only a decision made, but backed by a team of artists to physically realise it. Remember all the paintings in the stairwells of the movies? Each and every one of these oil paintings were painted by genuine artists, then cleverly aged to its purpose. See? Blown away. Yet this is only the tip of the iceberg. I'm not going to bore you with any more text as I feel it really deserves a real life experience than me trying to tell you through cyberspace writing! So honestly - book your tickets and I super highly recommend getting the Digital Guide with it to make the most of your experience!

Daniel Radcliffe's hands are smaller than mine...?!

NOT promoting drink driving whatsoever!

P.S. This model Hogwarts (R) that they actually filmed with is absolutely breathtaking!

Harry & Ron's bedroom from the start! See the cases under the two beds on the right? They were so little then!
I have refrained myself from posting all my pictures as I don't wish to spoil your experience! You have my word though that this is totally worth a day out whoever you choose to go with!

Heat Wave Baby!

So we've got two weeks of spring!! I'm absolutely loving it as, well, who wouldn't?

I'm absolutely obsessed with this clutch. It comes in both black and white - this is obviously the white, while the black carries black spike studs. They are super gorgeous! They are handmade by the London brand Vivian Ying - where again (see last post) you have an exclusive half price coupon to shop at! Simply type in YNMS50 at checkout and get investing on your designer leather clutch!!

P.S. My nails are Gwen Stefani for OPI's Satin Black; which on its own is basically just matte black... what do you guys think? I personally would probably rather a matte topcoat...

The Hair I Never Had

I really enjoyed putting this look together. The task at hand was actually these teeny tiny little hot pants but I think the wig just stole the show! I have been sent another 2 wigs since the blonde one from Try Not To Laugh, and I must say I'm having a lot of fun with them! I don't know if I could wear it a full day or out with friends but I simply love how it transforms my look!

Back to these tiny shorts from H&M Divided, they are literally at least two sizes too small than its label. Thank god they're very stretchy though, as you can also see that it has front and back contrast materials, the back is even stretchier than the front. They are so little and tight though I don't think I would wear them again if I didn't need to (mind I have to wear garment assignments twice). They are so short that they almost can't cover the top ribbings of these tights that were made for short-shorts!

On another note, I came across this gorgeous jacket walking through Primark and I simply could not help myself with the unbelievable price tag! #hallelujah

Just a side note, the brunette looking wig actually carries a red-ish hue in direct sunlight. I have always wished my hair was soft enough for soft curls, this is almost like the dream hair I never had! I probably should have smoothed it over a little more though, I have had it in my closet for a few months now and it seemed to have tangled a little. Anyone with any suggestions? Isn't there something I can spray on it so it will brush out nicely? It's not real human hair so when I try to brush it, it gets so stuck I'm worried it will break off at the scalp! Eek...

I had so much fun this day at Dulwich Park! I especially love how these shoes look like roller skaters here! Those of you who might remember, I have pairs these shoes with other looks before and they have looked sporty or simply cool when needed! So über versatile!

So I'm back in London! Literally just landed a few hours ago and I'm so excited to be blogging again! British summer - thanks for holding up!!! I'm so pleasantly surprised that you have indeed remained! I love love love you!!

Dinner Date

Sorry I indulged a bit in the hair-fixing shots, they rest were just not as nice for a change! The idea of this printed dress from H&M Divided is quite clever, panelling the sides for a dramatic slimming effect. It has a zip down down the chest in the front which looked really good until I put it on and found it confusing instead. When completely unzipped it is completely below the base of the bra line - not ok. At halfway, looks neither here or there. So I just zipped it all the way but optically it wasn't the most flattering on the chest shape. Anyway, it was very comfortable and I have already seen it on the streets worn by other people! Are you one of them? Where do you leave the zip at?

#BirthdayBlues

I have been quite expressive on Twitter of not wanting another birthday, not wanting to get yet another year older. The dreading was actually worse than anything else, whilst I have never been big on birthdays this year it took a whole new definition. It is official that behind any birthday celebrations the true reason is to take the edge off. The bf did a fabulous job - much more than just taking the edge of and completely made my day. I'll get onto that in tomorrow's post, although those of you who are with me on Instagram would know what I was up to! ;)

For now, I thought I'd share with you my pre-birthday dinner at Plateau, Canary Wharf. I were sent there a long time ago as a job and have loved the place since. It is at the prime location of the finance district with the easiest and shortest walk from the tube station. With the submersion of dense, glistening building lights and its crisp white interiors, sink into their seats and let their amazing wine wash away your worries. The price tag isn't cheap but we had caught some amazing 3-course deals from them in the past.

The Knickerbocker Glory with Strawberry Ice Cream. Super Nom!

For more details of Plateau click here.

Lightbox Fun!
My dress is from River Island, cardigan from MaxMara, clutch by Vivian Ying,
shoes from Mr. Louboutin and baroque bangle from Anna Dello Russo for H&M.

Stay tuned for tomorrow's post - I have got so much to share for my actual birthday (yesterday) but for now I need to run along and enjoy the last of it today! Find me on Instagram! Always amazing when they fall on weekends! xxx
